Island League - juvenile

Juvenile Competitive hockey is open to players ages 18 to 20 years as of December 31st of the current season.  Most Juvenile players have supported their Minor Hockey Associations for many years and would like to continue playing hockey in the Minor Hockey program.  These players choose to play Minor Hockey rather than go on to the Junior Leagues due to their commitments to school, trades training or work commitments.  They are playing for the "love of  the game".

We encourage all graduating Midget players each season to play in the Juvenile Competitive League and continue their hockey experience.  We are hoping to grow this League in the seasons to come.

Goals for the Juvenile player:

  • Fun
  • To continue playing hockey at a competitive level in the Minor Hockey program.

This season we have three Juvenile Competitive teams – Juan de Fuca, Nanaimo and Sooke.  The players are playing two games a week in a schedule from December 3rd, 2011 to February 12th, 2012.  The hope is to start this League earlier next season.  After League play, the teams then will go into a playoff series to determine who will become the Vancouver Island District Championship team and represent the Island at the BC Hockey Championship that will be held from March 22 to 25, 2012 in the Lower Mainland for this season.
