Island League - Bantam

Bantam Competitive Hockey is open to players ages 13 and 14. For many of our second year Bantams, it is an important part of their lives as it is at this stage that the search for Canada's High Performance Athletes begins.

The goals for the Bantam age player are:

• Fun
• Refining team play
• Intro to team strategy

The teams begin their season with a Placement Round to determine which Division they will compete in. Divisions are determined by the strength of the team not by the category of the Association. Once the League has been formed, the teams usually play between 10 and 15 league games where the players continue in their development. At the end of League Play, the teams are then placed into a Play-Off Series based on their Association’s category to determine who will become the Vancouver Island District Champion and represent the Island at one of the four Bantam Provincial Championships which are held in different areas of the Province each season. The four categories are Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4.
